My daughter always has an asthma attack when she's below 2 years old but now, she rarely experiences it. My question is, can she have a pet? She wanted to have a kitty but I read somewhere that a pet dander could be harmful. Is this true?

Hi Mommy Jill,

Pets are beneficial for kids because of various reasons like:

  • it reduces negative feelings, such as sadness
  • it also helps with learning
  • it provides companionship
  • it encourages responsibility

However, when your child has an asthma, there are many things to consider and you can always ask her/his pedia about it. You can also check this article to know which pets are suggested for your child.

I hope this helps and please feel free to share your experience in case you considered having a pet already.

Thank you! 😀
